Exhibition Statement
CONFAB, derived from "confabulation," speaks to the act of deep conversation—a dialogue where ideas are freely exchanged, and connections are made. This exhibition invites you to engage in a meaningful exchange on the issues that shape our times. Here, art becomes the medium of dialogue, addressing themes that resonate with contemporary society including women’s rights and bodily autonomy, mental health, consumerism, the environment, war, bureaucracy, and a sense of self. I was struck by how clearly these topics were repeated throughout the submissions. These topics reflect our complex reality, revealing both the urgency of our concerns and perspectives within our community.
The artists in CONFAB utilize a variety of techniques and styles, transforming personal expression into a communal conversation. From painting and sculpture to mixed and digital media, each piece is both a statement and an invitation to reflect on how art can confront, reveal, and explore contemporary challenges. Viewers are encouraged to approach each work not only as a reflection of today’s pressing issues but as an invitation to ask questions, to encounter new perspectives, and to envision broader possibilities. As these works span various themes the exhibition becomes a testament to the composite nature of our shared human experience. This exhibition reaffirms the role of art in cultivating awareness and empathy, bridging individual and collective narratives, and embodying the power of dialogue within a rapidly evolving world.
