The Washington Studio School invites its students and DMV artists to submit their art for CONFAB, an exhibition aimed at creating a dialogue between the school and its community. Artists are encouraged to submit their best work on broadly defined contemporary issues, demonstrating strong technique and personal interpretation. The works will be displayed together, connecting students and guest artists in a shared creative conversation.

The Washington Studio School invites its students AND DMV artists to apply to this exhibition, titled CONFAB, which creates a dialogue between WSS and its community. Artists are encouraged to present their best work, the theme broadly being relevant contemporary issues, and demonstrating strong technique. What would be considered a relevant contemporary issue? We invite your personal take on this theme.


Works will be installed in dialogue with one another, student and guest artist alike. The exhibition runs from November 1st until December 1st.


Submission Criteria:

  • Artists may submit up to 3 artworks (maximum) for consideration.

  • All mediums are encouraged.

  • The size limitation for 2D works is 40x40 inches, and for 3D work 3x6x3 ft.

  • Images of each artwork - Image(s) must be labeled: artist last name_title of work_# of #total works submitted

  • An Artist's Statement
