Find freedom exploring the figure as we experiment with non-traditional uses of watercolor and other mixed media. Bring your large mop brush (essential!) and your favorite watercolor set to discover the fluidity and happy accidents inherent in watercolor. The class will work from both a live model and photo sources.
*Note: This is a two-day workshop. (Saturday & Sunday from 2pm-5pm). Must be 18 or older to attend*
Location: In-Person/Room 3A
RSVP is required to attend.
*Please ring the doorbell for entry on Sunday, August 25th as the gallery and school will be closed. *
Required Supplies:
- Your favorite watercolor set (tubes or pans) including set up for mixing (palette, etc)
- A large MOP BRUSH for watercolor (essential)!
- An assortment of watercolor brushes
- Water soluble colored pencils (such as Stabilo, Derwent, Prismacolor, Faber-Castell, etc)
- Woodies, the large Stabilo crayons meant for children are great!!!
- Be sure your collection includes BLACK
- Water soluble graphite (such as ArtGraf or Stabilo)
- Pencils and/or tins
- Pad(s) of watercolor paper, cold or hot pressed
- 6x9, 8x10, or 9x12 depending on preference (Hahnemuele, Strathmore, Fabriano, and Canson all make good ones)
- Roll of Bounty paper towels (makes a nice textured mark)
- Optional: Inks of your choice
- Powdered graphite and/or charcoal
*Figurative photo sources will be provided but feel free to bring your own as well. We will also work with a live figure model on both days.*
Special note:
The school has limited watercolor supplies that will be provided on a first-come first- serve basis. To ensure we still have supplies on hand, please email admin immediately upon signing up for the workshop if you are interested.
