This advanced painting class will push your practice in a direction that reflects who you are as an artist and what you want to say. We will work on finding your voice and painting your own perception from various historical and life stimulus sources. Work will reflect the educated use of the formal principles of composition to ensure that work is grounded in strong visual communication. Students will work from setups over multiple weeks to allow students to explore the in-depth development of a painting through layering, shifting, and editing.
This class is for painters who have developed skills in painting, have an understanding of formal elements, and are ready to paint outside of the ”student” box.

NOTE: Gesso Day is SEPTEMBER 16TH. Join us at WSS between 2-6pm, to learn how to stretch and gesso your own canvases and prepare surfaces for the upcoming term! RSVP is required to attend.

If you are unsure if a class is right for you, please read our Pathway To Sucess: A Guide or have a conversation with a Faculty member or our Head of Faculty before the first week of the 10-week term ends. Once the second week of classes starts, no refunds will be offered.
For Workshops, Artist Demos, and Short Classes (classes less than 10 weeks in duration) - only withdrawals more than 14 days before the first day of class – 100% tuition refund*
A $25 administrative fee is applied to all refunds.
