In this Drawing into Sculpture course, students will strengthen their understanding of how to apply formal visual elements. Students will learn new skills and will be exposed to new materials which will expand their artistic toolbox and vocabulary. Be warned: it will take your work in exciting new and unexpected directions! While sculpture uses real space through dimensionality, drawing deals with space in an illusory manner, on a flat surface. The formal elements are common to both: line, form, planes, shape, light, and composition. This class will combine sculpture and drawing - separately and together - using many of the same materials: charcoal, pencil, paper, as well as foam core, wire, and cardboard.

Who this class is for: This class is for students who already have drawing experience and are ready to experiment with bringing their work into 3-dimensional space. Prior experience with sculpture is not required.
