This course is designed for students who have completed three levels of Introduction to Drawing and are now ready to challenge themselves by pushing observational skills into more expressive mark-making, stretching form, and considering abstraction within representation. Students will be working intensively from various resources which include historical references, live models, and elaborate still-life set-ups, all of which are designed to propel the individual’s visual problem-solving skills to the next level.
Materials List - These are the materials you will need for this class.
- 18” x 24” white drawing paper 80lb or heavier
- 18 x 24 charcoal paper assorted tints or white-laid finish
- A box of Coates brand willow charcoal - please no thin sticks
- Alphacolor-HiFi Greys
- Kneaded eraser
- Staedtler white plastic eraser
- Pencils: 2H, H, HB, 2B, 4B, and 6B
- Pencil sharpener
- Black India ink and medium round brush.
- Fine felt tip marker black
- Drawing board with clips

If you are unsure if a class is right for you, please read our Pathway To Sucess: A Guide or have a conversation with a Faculty member or our Head of Faculty before the first week of the 10-week term ends. Once the second week of classes starts, no refunds will be offered.
For Workshops, Artist Demos, and Short Classes (classes less than 10 weeks in duration) - only withdrawals more than 14 days before the first day of class – 100% tuition refund*
A $25 administrative fee is applied to all refunds.
*If we can fill your spot, we will fully refund your tuition, less the administrative fee.
