Painting with water:  pools and wicking color, lines dissolved, paper absorption: traditional watercolor into new media

In this class, each session will focus on a particular medium or combination, with an emphasis on experimentation and recording the process.  Each student’s findings will be preserved in a notebook for future reference. Students will use traditional gum arabic-based watercolor in comparison with liquid watercolor, acrylic inks, fountain pen inks, shellac-based inks, fluid acrylic paint, and water-soluble pencils, and will experiment with the possibilities of layering and mixing all media.

Who this class is for: Recommended for those who are not averse to starting at the beginning with some materials,  but have had experience with watercolor.
