Washington Studio School Gallery
XOXO Faculty Show
On View: December 6th - January 31st
Exhibition Statement
Art is one of the best aspects of humanity.
We, at the Washington Studio School are very fortunate to be in the company of artist-instructors who demonstrate humanity in such high form. What is evident in this year’s edition of XOXO is the diversity under the consistent umbrella of what we hold precious, strong technique and strong ideas.
The work in this exhibition is what the school is about: There is a love for the figure, an endless study of color, experimentation through new media and collage, and printmaking. Through emphatic marks, some pieces conjure a depth of feeling which make us contemplate humanity altogether. Other pieces demonstrate an intense study of the landscape through love of form, light, and its magic.
The faculty of the Washington Studio School live by this practice and share it with dedicated students seeking a place of serious study outside of a university. Our pedagogy involves the same rigor but evolves with new research and ideas, responding to student needs as they grow. Classes are custom designed and unique- there is no other place like WSS.
